A big part of my job is replying to questions from our whitelabel partners. These emails tend to be similar, as our partners run into the same issues or are worried about the same things.
Here are a few questions and answers from this week:
Can I use the search box on multiple sites?
Yes. If you have the embedded version of the search box, you can paste the code wherever you want. Every time a visitor goes to one of the sites where your search box is set up we count one visit, and all leads are counted. This is a very simple way to set up a number of similar sites all with a flight search, for instance if you have a number of destination sites (such as “Visit York”, “Visit Bristol” and so forth).
Can I remove the “Powered by Dohop” from the results page?
This is a very common question. By default we display a little Dohop logo along with the words “Powered by” at the top of the search results page. We did this because so few of our partners were linking back to Dohop from their sites (this was a request so we could see that they were live and so we could take a look at the implementation).
The answer to the question is most often a “Yes, but…”. The “but” part is that we can remove the little image for you, but we want just the tiniest little thing in return. If you want us to remove that little logo, we would very much like a link back to the whitelabel front page from somewhere on your site. That’s it. Doesn’t have to be in a highly visible place. Just somewhere on your site. All you have to do is ask.
I / My father / my friend made a booking but I don’t see a commission. Why?
This is a question I get quite often, and it is an understandable one. You just set up a new affiliate system, you gave it a proper test but don’t see a commission. The answer is almost always that you simply didn’t book with one of the vendors for which we pay a booking commission. We pay for leads (clicks on search results on your site) for about half of our vendors and pay booking commission for about half. For RyanAir and easyJet we pay nothing, since they pay us nothing.
So if you don’t see a commission where you think one should appear, it is probably because the user in question clicked on a link to a non-paying vendor, or one that pays a lead-value.
We are not perfect, however so if you think that we got it wrong do let us know.
